Lisa Lupo, Owner & Head CrossFit Coach

Lisa

I was born on November 11th 1978 and I grew up on a small ranch property my parents built in the hills of Hayward, California, East Bay. As a small child I was quite the tomboy. Very active, always climbing trees, riding my dads tractor and finding ways to get dirty. As a young girl I competed in Jazz and Tap dancing and I also played Tee Ball ... Interesting combo, I know! I played on a girls Basketball team in elementary school (totally rocked a side pony) and continued competing in dance most of my childhood through middle school. In high school I was on the swim team and was the only girl in my weightlifting class. In my mid 20's I began to get serious about fitness and health. Over the course of about 11 months, I completely transformed my body and mind from a weak, out of shape, junk food eating Chiropractic Assistant, to a lean, strong, clean eating Fitness Trainer. In 2005 I became certified through International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and began working as a Fitness Trainer in the Chiropractic office I had managed for the previous 5 years. Working with mostly Chiropractic patients who were injured and/or suffering from chronic pain, I was able to work very closely with the Doctor to help address muscular and postural imbalances and mobility issues to help aid in their recovery. I used Neuromuscular Re-education, Myofascial Release, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), as well as specific stabilization and strengthening exercises as prescribed by the Doctor. This opportunity gave me the knowledge and practical experience needed to work with people of all ability levels.

During my first year as a trainer, I met my husband Chris. As I began to work very closely with him, I developed the confidence and knowledge needed to be a well rounded Coach. I am extremely grateful to have him as my husband as his extensive knowledge, experience and passion for his job and the fitness industry in general, has been the most valuable experience in my career as a Trainer/Coach. Over the years we have attended numerous conferences, seminars, trainings and certifications, and spent many hours studying the work of some of the best coaches in the industry.

In 2007 we moved from the California Bay Area to Bozeman in hopes to start a family and live a slower paced life. For 2 years we both worked as Personal Trainers until we were able to open our gym, CrossFit Bozeman in August of 2009. We have 2 Chocolate labs, Bear 7 and Kona 5, we are still working hard to start a family, and we feel extremely blessed to have a successful business with an amazing group of athletes and coaches who inspire and make us proud every single day.

Favorite quote:
"Passion and intensity is the gift of an inspired and inspiring life".

Now for the fun stuff ... I love the sunshine, warm nights, sleeping in, dancing, wake-boarding, paddle-boarding, lifting heavy things, dirt bike riding, great concerts, eating out/great food, playing with my niece Lucy, snuggling with my hubby and doggies on a Sunday morning, good ole' country music and of course ... Gangsta Rap!
